Deb Georgitis of Ewe and I Farm Kennebunkport, Maine
On 31 acres of historic farmland in Kennebunkport, Maine, Deb Georgitis has shaped more than a farm—she has created a legacy of dedication, creativity, and respect for the earth. Ewe & I Farm, rooted in what was once a dairy and strawberry operation, sits on marine clay soil that tests even experienced growers. Through organic methods, biodynamic principles, and raised beds enriched with composted manure from her sheep, llama, and chickens, Deb has amended this challenging terrain into fertile soil for her medicinal herbs and vegetables.
For Deb, farming is a lifelong pursuit of joy and purpose. Gardening since the age of six, she now draws on decades of knowledge and experience to adapt her processes, fine-tuning her work as it evolves alongside her life. Using minimal tillage with a broadfork and aligning her efforts with biodynamic planting cycles - working not against the land, but in harmony with it. Her approach demonstrates that effective farming is as much about collaboration with nature as it is about perseverance.
Ewe & I Farm is a singular operation, entirely woman-run with occasional help from WWOOFers, reflecting Deb’s determination and independent spirit. She finds inspiration in the work of Meeting House Farm and is proud to join the Herb Growers Collaborative, where she hopes to continue learning and growing. Her story is one of persistence and passion, a reminder that success is built not on grand gestures, but on the daily commitment to do the work—and to do it well.
