In the Garden

Blue Corn Flower, also known as bachelor button blooms in early summer with a spectacular display of blue flowers.  Given to self seeding, we are happy to welcome these flowers back year after year.  The blooms are edible and also good for drying.  We like to plant them amongst the cabbages and carrots for a pop of color in the vegetable gardens.  Annual - self seeding.  Please note that if it is allowed to self seed in the late summer,  the seedlings will over winter and bloom in early summer the following season.  18 inches tall.  Zones 2-11.

In the Apothecary

We primarily use blue corn flower as a beautiful pop of blue in our tisanes.  It does mildly support the circulatory system and has some anti-inflammatory properties.  It's primary role in our apothecary is to bring beauty to the ritual of brewing a tisane.
